Vandy "leading the pack"

We're still running up against the 85-man limit. To even get the final three guys Barton's talking about, it will take departures from three guys currently on scholarship and with remaining eligibility. Tight fit. Do you really wanna give two of those precious final three spots to safeties? Maybe, if one of them is McQuay, but it's a tough call, given the needs at running back and O-line.

Well put, Billy. My concerns exactly. Over the years we've had some pretty good "skill" guys, and of course in today's fast-paced game you need even more. But it's in the trenches where we've often come up short, especially in the SEC. I'd like to see some BEEF and a running back who can drag tacklers 5 or 10 yards.

L3 seems to be doing the exact OPPOSITE of wavering from Vanderbilt. His recruitment is just being kept airtight and you have to respect that. He's making the best decision for HIM. You can't hate on a kid for doing that.

In fact there hasn't been a recruit that I've resented for going elsewhere with the exception of Josh Dawson. I feel that was a publicity stunt he pulled and I do not wish him a good career. Hope he stays healthy and gets his degree but I hope he gets buried in the depth chart and never sees the field.

Vandy 1 -- I played "monster man" for Vandy that day. Even back then we had a tendency to play down to the opposition. Yet we beat UT, played a great game against Alabama at Legion Field in Birmingham (0 - 0 at the half) until Joe Namath rescued the national champions, and we tied Ole Miss in a game we could have won. If you've been a fan since that time, you have suffered through some very painful losses, where we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory (often times with the help of the zebras, who apparently couldn't abide us beating Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida etc., but also often when we just did some inexplicable things or suffered the "curse").

  • WoW - pleasure to meet you Sir! thank-you for all of your blood, sweat, and tears back in the day! and yes... that oklahoma game was a huge disapointment - i could probably list every bad call since the 70's... i think pay back time is here and CJF can avenge all of those folks who sat in the rain, travelled all over the place, bit their fingers off, got hit with cups of ice or other flying objects, etc..... it has been a long awaited and welcome transformation for all the ex players and fans!
