As a former Vandy football player I can say there's nothing wrong with UT per se. They have a great tradition and great facilities. I cheer for them when they are playing outside the SEC. I am bothered by many of the young men they have recruited under recent coaches; ditto for some other schools. I hate to see some of the great kids Vandy recruits get thrown in amongst the thugs at those schools, especially kids from the state of Tennessee. A successful football career and degree from Vanderbilt can open so many doors; that's especially important in today's job market. But if a young man is not really excited about the challenge of studying and playing at a school like Vanderbilt, it's probably best for all if he goes elsewhere. Let's just celebrate the fantastic young men who are committed to what Vandy offers. If we have the kind of season we all hope for, some of those guys who got away will come home, in my opinion.

Yeah. I'm going to know things at times before they're public and have to hold them for the sake of the kid or for other reasons but I will always keep you guys heading in the right direction.

I actually knew JRM was going to Tennessee back in July and I've been hinting at that ever since just to temper your expectations.

Jelks didn't come to UT because he would have had to wait to play. We have a plethora of offensive linemen. Jelks was not a priority.
