In-state TE to visit

    While most schools have stopped by Lenoir City High School to check in on Tennessee commit Camion Patrick, they're finding a good tight end in his teammate Lucas Hamilton.

  • Now Vandy goes after an in-state tight end? What happened last year? there were good TE's in Vandy's own backyard that they over looked.

  • I'm assuming that TE just wasn't that big of a need last year. IIRC, VU hauled in 2 or 3 TE's two years ago.

    Not sure what TEs last year that you're referring to. Caleb Counce maybe? Either way, they're not quite going after Hamilton yet. He's being evaluated so we'll see what happens after camp.

  • FWIW, my high school football coach was the D-Coordinator at CPA when Cooper Wallace (TE and 4 year starter at Auburn) was in high school. He said that Vanderbilt didn't even recruit Cooper Wallace. Some may remember Cooper's brother David Wallace was a football/baseball player at VU and went on to be the bullpen catcher for the Cleveland Indians.

    Supposedly, there might have been bad blood between Woody Widenhoffer and the Wallace family. David's football career didn't last too long at VU despite starting some games. I can remember being in attendance at the game where he started against Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Bad news.
