Coaching change rumors

  • If you haven't checked out our Rumors247 board, I suggest you start giving it a look. It's a great resource to keep track of the spinning coaching carousel. We have some really connected people on their compiling some great info on what schools are targetting who, what coaches are on the hot seat and where the coaches are going to land.

Vandy fans will need to get used to James Franklin's name getting thrown around and NC State looks like one school that may target him.

  • Ugh I hate this part of college football. We dealt with the same thing on the early part of Corbin's tenure

  • When Franklin was first hired, everybody knew that any coach who brought significant success to VU would come with the risk of leaving for a bigger job. Except for about 5 or 10 programs out there, that is simply a fact of life. I'm glad we're having the kind of success that brings this attention.

I'm also glad to be making my first post on the 247 network. I haven't pulled the trigger on my free trial yet, but given how sharply a certain other network is cliffdiving lately, I figured I would at least browse around here. Glad to see the national staff putting some real time into contributing to the Vanderbilt coverage and also the discussion here.

Sorry ATL, you don't have a choice. I gave you 30 days free anyway. Thanks for posting. I think you'll like it over here. Check out our recruiting nuggets. I think you'll like it. Welcome!!

  • Definitely better over here ATL.

Barton, What's the buyout on Franklin's contract? When he got the new contract last year and the decision was made on the facility, I would have thought he was handcuffed a bit.

Further, looking at the 13 schedule, his stock will be stronger a year from now.

  • BTW, State College would be a step DOWN for CF. No way he'll go there. About like Gruden going to UT.

  • No, I'm not ATL14straight. Just another Commodore fan who lives in Atlanta.

Barton, thanks very much for the trial. I like what I'm seeing, but knew alot about what to expect already!

Looking forward to helping build a Vanderbilt community here at 247.

  • ATL Dore, I'm a Vandy fan who grew up in Hotlanta. As a kid, I was an avid Georgia Tech fan but settled in as a Vandy fan when I moved to Nashville to return to school. Fell in love w/Nashville and stayed. I go to the AJC a lot to keep up w/my Braves and also to follow Tech.

Have some fun on the blogs w/Georgia fans. They don't like Franklin much since the dustup after last year's game in Nashville. It's easy to get the Georgia fans going w/just the slightest positive spin on Franklin. Ha!

As a former season ticket holder of 25+ years, it is so gratifying to experience the improvements taking place at Vandy... in facilities, in the team and in recruiting. Glad The AD is committed to keeping Franklin.
