Jordan Wilkins will be celebrating more than his 18th birthday Wednesday.
The 4-star running back from St. Benedict at Auburndale in Cordova, Tenn., will announce his college choice among a number top colleges that have offered him a scholarship.
“I was going to do a press conference but being my birthday, I didn’t want to take all that time to do that,” Wilkins said. “I’m just going to call the coach and tell him first and from there I’m just going to tweet something and get the word out -- nothing huge.”
Wilkins has pared down more than a dozen offers to Auburn and Vanderbilt and said his final decision will come down to, “the school where I feel more comfortable.”
He expects to post his commitment on his Twitter account, @jordanwilkins2, between 10 and 11 am CT Wednesday morning.
Wilkins, 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, visited Auburn for the first time in June and has visited Vanderbilt several times. His brother, Trey Wilkins, is a walk-on receiver for the Commodores.
Wilkins rushed for 1,546 yards and 18 touchdowns on 196 carries as a junior. He had 17 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns, and returned both a kickoff and punt for TD’s. He is rated the nation’s No. 7 all-purpose back and No. 146 overall prospect by 247Sports.
