Burse: "I want to be a part of it"

Carlos Burse

When Alphretta, Ga. wide receiver Carlos Burse publically announced his commitment to Vanderbilt on Twitter two weeks ago, two things stood out to the three-star propsect that made his decision an easy one: academics and building a program.

“When I get done with football, I’m going to have a degree from Vanderbilt that is world class,” Burse told Dawgs247’s Rusty Mansell at the McEachern 7-on-7. “I’ll be pretty much set for life with a degree after I leave and I want to help them build their program up. They have a good program and a good coaching staff and I want to be a part of it.”

Burse also credits his relationship with Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin and the energy he exudes as factor in his decision.

“He’s one of the most enthusiastic coaches I’ve ever been around,” Burse said. “When he talks to me, he’s always energetic.”

Franklin’s energy on the recruiting trail has played a huge role in the Commodores great start to the Class of 2013. Within the last two weeks, Vandy has landed five commitments and catapulted to No. 15 in the 247Sports team rankings.

At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Burse is ranked as the No. 44 player in Georgia and the No. 59 wide receiver. He’s the third wide receiver commitment for the Dores and they are expected to take one more in this year’s class.
