Burse is a Dore

Carlos Burse

What was expected to be a big weekend for Vanderbilt got started a little bit early on Thursday with a commitment from one of the top wide receiver prospects in the southeast. Carlos Burse out of Alpharetta, Ga. announced his commitment publicly on twitter.

“It’s about that time!!” Burse tweeted Thursday morning. “I’d like to let everyone know that…My commitment goes to the Vanderbilt Commodores!”

Burse chose the Commodores over offers from the likes of Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Oklahoma.

With his pledge, the 6-3, 205-pounder becomes the tenth commitment for Vanderbilt in the class of 2013. He joins two other commitments at the wide receiver position in Latevius Rayford out of Memphis Central and Gerald Perry out of Memphis Whitehaven. We expect the Commodores to take at least one more wide receiver.

The commitment immediately bumped Vanderbilt to 23rd in the national team recruiting rankings on 247Sports.

Burse is a three-star prospect with a rating of 88. He is ranked as the No. 44 player in Georgia and the No. 59 wide receiver in the country.
